Dear Members of the Tabernacle Community,
For children each year, the fall, not the spring, represents the beginning of a new cycle of learning and academic growth. Like the seasonal yields we see in Nature, our children’s learning is enriched by those who care deeply about their success. We all play a role in reaping what our children sow in their learning.
This year we are happy to report a successful school opening along with a number of new staff members. Joining the ranks of the Tabernacle Elementary School are Donnalee Miller, Educational Interpreter; Brittany Meyer, 1st Grade Teacher, Catherine Screnci, Special Education Teacher; and Cassandra Brasile, School Psychologist. New staff at the Kenneth R. Olson Middle School includes Alexandra Lewis, 5th Grade Teacher, Lisa Gargiulo, Special Education Teacher, and Heather Wilusz, Spanish Teacher.
Also, due to the commitment of the dedicated members of the Board of Education, without impacting the school budget the Tabernacle School District boasts smaller class sizes in the lower grades along with more support in the area of mathematics through a full-time math specialist. Finally, in order to keep a responsible fiscal eye on the budget while continuing to provide a quality education to all students, the Tabernacle Board of Education has approved an administrative shared services agreement with the Southampton Public Schools. We welcome our shared service administrators, Mr. Craig Vaughn, Director of Curriculum and Abbie DiMenna, Supervisor of Special Services in assisting us with this new endeavor.
We welcome community input and involvement, therefore to arange an opportunity to share your thoughts and provide feedback about our schools, please contact my secretary, Dawn McIntyre at 268-0153 ext. 8019. We invite you to attend our monthy Board of Education meetings, so view our website for upcoming meeting dates.
Sincerely,
George Rafferty
Superintendent of Schools
